MTB Around the Wyre Forest? Sat 24th Jan AM

Post by Philip Whiteman » 19 Jan 2015 09:48

The weather is likely to remain problematic with icy roads, so here as an alternative suggestion....

Is anyone here interested in a couple of hours pootling around the Wyre Forest on Saturday (24th Jan) morning, departing at 10am?

Suggested meeting point at the car park here

Please let me know if you are interested. Incidentally, I am not a highly competent mountain biker, so it will not be a manic ride. Mandatory stop at the Wyre Forest Visitors Cafe.

Hi Alistair.

The objective is really coffee and cake at the Visitor Centre after some fairly well made up tracks. Nothing too serious.

Others have signed up via the Facebook Group too.

Try this route for size

I cannot vouch for all of the tracks in terms of quality.

Seven silly souls turned out today for the Wyre Forest Pootle. The first challenge was getting out of the car park. The icy danger was well illustrated by Trevor Richards dramatic arrival as he went arse over tit onto slippery tarmac. Beyond that, we followed the old railway line until an absolute beast of quagmire and a steep climb. Paul entertainingly buried himself and the bike in mud over the bottom bracket.

All told there were:

Philip Whiteman
Paul Watkins
Trevor Richard
Amerjit Sanghera
Phil Packwood
Chris Hudson
Alistair Hey

Diggers attempted to join us but arrived just as we had left.

It was a good way to spend a Saturday morning when roads were clearly too lethal for cycling.
