2016 Aviva Women's Tour

Post by toby » 04 Feb 2016 17:32

The race starts on Wednesday 15th June. Lizzie Armitstead should be racing, so this will be a chance to cheer on the current World Road Racing Champion.

On Thursday 16th, stage two passes through Beacon Club run territory with a stage from Atherstone to Stratford Upon Avon.
If there is sufficient interest, I'd suggest A, B and C paced runs to a pre-determined point on the course, all meeting at the same point so we can form a tricolore wall along each side of the road in our finest red, white and green spandex. And maybe scrawl LIZZIE and BEACON in the road (as well as the names of some our other favourite racers).

Stages 3 and 4 pass through "Shenton Country" and I gather he is thinking about one of his classic road trips out for one of those stages as well.

So let's get those holiday requests in at work and we can devise routes and more concrete plans in the meantime!

Good call Toby. I've had a word with myself and decided to allow myself a day off....joys of the self employed

Hope there's a good turnout, that's 2 for the c run

3 for the C run.... My 'expression of interest' was made on the FB post. :D

With a month to go, just wanted to "bump" this and make sure those interested had the time off on the 16th June and to see if anyone else wants to come and watch the race with us.

Between now and then we can discuss where to watch the race go past and routes there etc.

This is the schedule for next Thursday's stage;

I am planning to ride to Meriden and then to Stratford for the finish.
If people have different plans or variation of pace then we could meet up on Bridge St as near to the finish as possible?!

I was thinking Burton Dassett then back to Stratford for the finish. If that's too tight for time then maybe Kineton area or Warwick.

I've sorted out a route to Ruth's at Leek Wootton. 8.45 start from the BH will give us plenty of time at C+ pace.

All welcome of course, or we'll see you there.
