Getting up to speed - here are the results from the first round. Typically the handicap competition has been a rider's best 10 results but given reduced number of races think we should probably reduce to say, best 7? Any thoughts there are 11 races available to count

Act Exp H'cap H'cap time H'time / rest Points
Ed Moss 47.47 48.49 -1.49 45.58 45.58 40
Kit Buchanan 48.51 55.30 -8.30 40.21 47.00 39
Rebecca Lane 58.36 59.30 -12.30 46.06 47.00 38
Kevin Satterthwaite 54.49 55.30 -8.30 46.19 47.00 37
Simon Woodward 57.02 55.30 -8.30 48.32 47.00 36
Ian Taylor 50.55 50.27 -3.27 47.28 47.28 35
Gavin Giles 56.33 55.30 -8.30 48.03 48.03 34
Roger Cutler 47.28 45.47 1.53 49.21 49.21 33
Mark Roberts 55.48 51.58 -4.58 50.50 50.50 32

I was going to suggest eight, just because it's a round number, but given that several regulars have missed rounds due to having COVID and we've also encouraged two-ups (which I presume don't count for the handicap), seven sounds fair.

There was an event on 25 May - I've just got the results off of George and posted them - but it was advertised as a two-up road bike event, so I'm not sure whether that should exclude it from the handicap competition? Edit: though some others were also advertised as two-ups...

Simon, Is it possible to explain how this works again?
I thought I'd set a PB but I'm not sure how this works out in the results?

Hi Simon

I don't have a record of you having raced the course before. If you let me have the details I can get that all changed. The person who beats their PB by the most gets the most handicap points etc

Best, Simon

This is very complicated! My tuppence worth is that we may need to include 2-ups to get enough scoring rounds in?
Is it best to do this week’s solo so it can count?
Not that I’m competitive <@>

& handicap results from the club 10 - the way I worked this was to use the handicap from the K33/4.5*2 and multiply by 10/9. Just thinking next year I will just show how far people are ahead or behind of their PB's - (with a best of zero if first time on course) as that produces exactly the same result as times are currently calculated but seems much more intuitive to understand)

Congrats to Celia who with 2 races too go cannot be caught - quite handy as we don't have to decide how many races there should be as no way of catching Celia on any method - 4 first places and 2 second places really nailed it. many congrats.

Next year will make it easier to understand by showing how the actual time is better or worse than the PB time - the way it is currently done gives exactly the same result but complicates the understanding. However if someone has beaten their PB by 20 seconds and someone has missed their PB by 5 seconds fairly obvious what the handicap order should be.
