9th May Course has been changed to K34/10D Dunnington due to clash with Wyre Forest and likelyhood of insufficent daylight for riders to complete course if there is a large turnout

I didn't mean "Why watch this space?" I meant "Why are we changing it?"

Is the ultimate objective for it to become a summer event?

It was a request made as we apparently are helping with an event so it clashes

Sorry George
I wasn't being facetious - we changed the date because it clashes with a cyclo-cross event Jointly organised by the Redditch R & P and the Beacon. We were asked to change it because some of the cyclo-cross riders wanted to do the hill climb

No apology required, Dave; my question lacked a little precision.

I know I'm increasingly becoming a stereotypical old fuddy-duddy, but I just feel that the HC belongs in the autumn. I can understand the need to avoid a clash, but personally I'd have liked to see it put back, rather than brought forward. At the same time, I appreciate that, as someone who neither organises nor competes in this event, my views are much less important than those of the people who do.

Other factors considered were deterioration of the road surface as autumn progresses and the fact that while making it later wouldn't be a problem for folks who simply wished to help out at the our joint CX event it would rule out those who wished to race the full CX series as (I believe) the season starts with our event.

"Other factors considered were deterioration of the road surface as autumn progresses"

Call me old fashioned but that is one of the "charms" of the hill climb, picking your route whilst trying not to wheel spin.

Just thought I'd mention that I cycled up Winwood Heath Road yesterday and it hasn't wintered well - it was tricky to pick a route between potholes and loose gravel. I know it's never been great, but it did seem to me to have deteriorated.
