A new 3rd-cat in the club........

Post by Missiles » 28 Jun 2012 22:04

I've heard a rumour that one of our keen new road racers has just won enough points for his 3rd-cat licence. So are we going to have this offically confirmed along with a moment-by-moment account of the nerve-wracking race that clinched the crucial final points - from someone who was there?

Ruth

ps. and is this the first Beacon member to become a 3rd-cat riding a bike with a triple chainset?

You 'eard!

I should have added that I believe our other racing junior, Greg Dighton, got his points tally off the ground on Tuesday at Stourport too, but I think we need an accurate first-hand account...........

One eye whitness said that Greg did very well comming 5th that the new 3rd cat came 7th Andy Curly finished in the bunch.
The new 3rd cat is said to be very happy with this. he is also very happy with his triple chainset, black socks and hairy legs.
Doug and sean rode the next 3/4 race result unknown

As a side note the new 3rd cat just got blown out the back in tonights sssccrl round so spent the rest of the night watching the race talking to Ilsa Rountree about the three peeks.

Many congratulations indeed to the new 3rd-cat then but sorry to hear that his luck didn't hold for tonight's SSSSSCCCCCRRRRRL round.

Now you've got me wanting to know whether Isla was racing this evening?

Have you been drinking?

No Isla and Louise were marshals.

A telephone interview with Gregs revealed that he managed to get into about 6th or 7th place on the final bend. Started sprinting a little bit too late but got up to 4th in the bunch sprint (the winner having already gone off the front). Earlier in the quest for £10 on the intermediate sprint got into 2nd place on the final bend but then decided to start the cyclo cross season 3 months too early and spent a lot of time going across the grass before managing to rejoin the back of the Group.

Me and Sean got there late and missed the final sprint for the 4th CATS. I did speak to Greg and congratulate him on his result.
The 3/4 race was slow. I ended up puncturing (ultremos are crap!) about 10mins before the end (I clipped my pendal on the corner as well). I think Sean came 10th or just outside.

Well done Gaz-about time!
Well done Greg-3rd by the end of the season easily!

I've used Ultremos for 4 years and one snakebite **flat**. Is it the tyres or the tubes?
