Road works forced us to shorten the Handicap 20 tonight to 18 miles. Great weather though good turnout and the fish and chips were great. I'll leave it with Simon to sort out the Handicap 20 result.

Martin McGowan 45.17
Mark Patton 46.52
Phil Richards 47.45
John Hitchcock 49.18
Rhys Richards 50.19
Amarjit Sanghera 50.23
Simon wheeler 50.59
Keith Adcock 51.05
Richard Kings 51.10
Keri Harris 59.51

Thanks for timing Chris. Pity about the shortened course, but was definitely the right thing to do.

Yes, thanks Chris...right decision, but would have been interesting to have a 600m Paris-Roubaix section on a time trial!

If Simon is wondering about how to adjust handicaps for a shortened course, I think the exact distance was 17.85miles (by my Garmin), if you want to pro-rata the times back to 20 miles.

Thanks Phil
I was thinking along those lines follwoing a tip off from Chris but did not have exact mileage so very useful. Just for info I will therefore multiply all times by 20/17.85
Best
Simon

Congratulations Martin. You're certainly on form this year.
Unfortunately this comes with responsibilities; you'll be put on the front this Sunday when I get tired

Yep, great result, Martin ... although, actually, I suppose the principal earner of congratulations was someone off a longer handicap ... Keri? ... Amarjit?

George is spot on with his estimate of the handicap result with Amarjit and Keri heading the points for the day. Method has been to multiply actual time by 20/17.85 and then use the normal handicaps.

Well done, Amarjit.

The H/cap 20 was the first event I ever rode, aged 15, in 1952 on the old K36 Alcester Road course. That was the last year that the RTTC rule of 'dark and inconspicuous clothing' applied, and most people competed in black jerseys and shorts. I had a long sleeved black shirt and threadbare corduroy shorts, hand-me-downs from my brother.
Didn't win that one, either. _Q
