On a morning of wet weather (it got nice after finishing) managed a 4 hour 20 mins and 20 secs on the Shropshire 100 mile TT yesterday. Legs now hurt but think that is a club men's vet record - certainly showing on history as prev record being 4-21-03. Simon D

Great ride Simon.
It would be interesting to hear how you planned and managed your effort.
Did you have support?

Just! (one day will do a hundred when the sun is shining and the wind is still).

On Steve's question on the Shropshire course one could do it without support as the course is essentially two laps and the organiser will leave provisions / bottles at the 30/80 mile mark. On the course I did a couple of years ago in Wales (wet, windy, hilly) it was a 1 lap oval shape - I guess one could leave something at the 50 mile mark but I was very grateful to GMac for supporting then (not least to catch the bike at the end and drive home). Kate helped this year and definitely better to be supported but not essential. Would watch the driving though - this year the alarm went off at 4-15am, left the house at 4-45am, signed on at 6am and started 6-47. After a 100 hard miles definitely safer if someone else is driving other than me as quite tired afterwards. Other than that all ok - pacing hard to judge and on the start line just have to focus on the next landmark etc rather than telling your brain you are about to ride 100 miles. The Shropshire course is quite good in this respect as quite a few little loops which makes it easy psychologically to break into smaller segments - although also means not the fastest coursse around, about average for speed I think. Hope that helps let me kow if you want any more.

Best
Simon
