Catford CC. Yorks Hill
Rich Bussell rode an outstanding 1.59.9 to get 3rd place on his first serious attempt at the climb. He missed 2nd to previous winner Robert Gough by 3 tenths of a second and was beaten to first by James Lowden 1.55.6 on a bike that weighed an unbelievable 4.5 kilos.
Bec CC. White Hill
Rich got 11th with 2.00.6 here after misinterpreting the banners 20m short of the finish, so shut down his effort early, only to be shocked back into action on realising it. Probably missed out on a top 5 position but can still take pleasure in having beaten David Millar (21st in 2.03.6) and numerous other notable HC specialists. The Winner here was Jack Pullar in 1.49.3.
Details on club sites/CTT.

Brings back memories! In 1972 Colin Purdy won the Bec,I was 3rd and Dave Sinar 7th to win the team.I was 2nd in the Catford and won the Bec in 1971. In those days Colin and I with any of Dave Sinar,Pete Ruff,or Steve Jones won quite a number of hill climbs. We also had an interclub hill climb with 5 other prominent B'ham clubs on the full 3 miles of the Horseshoe Pass on Remembrance Sundays usually with around a 100 riders with the teams constituted of 6 riders.
Time for a few others to support Richard next season?
