In order to justify owning a TT bike, once a year I enter an open 25.
I invariably regret it.
This year was no exception. By the time I got round to looking at the CTT calendar, the list of reachable events on doable days was pretty short. I ended up riding a so-so course near Leicester on what turned out to be a pretty tough day. My lack of power was cruelly exposed by the headwind sections and my lack of skill and nerve was similarly apparent whenever I had to cope with tri-bars, side gusts and heavy following traffic all at the same time. I ended up going four minutes slower than last year, although I suspect with a very similar standard of performance.
At the present moment, I'm inclined to think that I'm finished with time-trialling. However, experience suggests that I will change my mind once the memory of yesterday has faded and been supplanted by the recurring fantasy that I have a bit of form.

Well done George. There was also a local 25 mile open TT yesterday on K33/25 course (A46 between Alcester & Evesham). Looks less lumpy than the course you rode (although also noticed headwind heading South), I did 58:25 to place 19th of 66. Winner was John Simpkins with 51:30. Jessica Rhodes-Jones rode her first 25 mile TT so set a PB with 1:03:20 & took prize for 1st place lady so well done Jess.
Thanks, everyone. On the positive side, Strava tells me that, on my first and second laps of the repeated section, I did my best and second best times ever on that stretch of road.
Yes. Not sure how I overlooked that.martin mc wrote:There was also a local 25 mile open TT yesterday on K33/25 course (A46 between Alcester & Evesham).
