Re: hill climbchampionship Sat 17th Sept
Why is the Hill Climb held in the middle of the summer now? It always used to be October and we would go straight to the pub afterwards and stop there until February, ready for riding the Weston and Back to knock the rough edges off.
It is better to be interesting rather than exact

You have forgotten the two most important club championships namely the Conker Championship and the Penny Putting Championship. I can understand a certain amount of confusion regarding the Penny Putting, do the regulations state whether it had to be old pennies or these new fangled new pence. For me I feel that it should be upgraded to Euro Putting but there you are I expect there could be a bit of disagreement on this. Maybe it should be on the agenda for the forthcoming AGM.
As for the hill climb champs in September this is obviously ridiculous because conkers are not in good enough condition before October as we who understand these things know.
Discuss.

Following works on woodland on Winwood Heath Road over last week the course will be a bit muddy. The verges have been churned up by vehicles, there are patches of mud & as usual lots of pine needles. I drove it on Friday evening & saw no reason to cancel event but would advise riders to arrive in plenty of time to do a practise ride to judge it for themselves & sort out any particular patches to avoid. If anyone is riding down the hill before start or to spectate please be extremely careful.

Just for the record, IMO I don't think sweeping the course should happen every year.... assuming someone is mad enough to try it again! Mud, leaves, horse S%&t are all par for the course. But this year was exceptional. The road was clean until just 2 weeks before the race, when 1-in-20 year coppicing of the adjoining woodland took place making a right mess.
