Meriden memorial service ride.

Post by listensqueak » 12 May 2015 11:19

Hi all.
Sunday's run to Meriden will be quite gentle to hopefully entice a few to turn up. I believe the service is due to commence at 11.00. (Please advise if this is not the case).
As last year, we will make a stop at the cafe about half a mile from the destination, time permitting. If we are a little slow, we can stop here on the return leg.
Last year was a great turnout for this memorial service and was a thoroughly enjoyable day. The route I will be taking is pretty flat and about 48 miles in total.
Thanks. Chas.

And for the A run, the outbound route will be via Cakebole, Doverdale, Wichenford to Bromyard. Returning via Rock, Stourport and Cakebole. Approx 123km.

Cycle parking is on the main street, so if you are in the possession of a cafe lock then it would be advantageous for you bring it along with you to the destination.

Flowerdews are anticipating our arrival.

Charlie....

Last year we departed Black Horse at 08:15 http://www.beaconrcc.org.uk/message_boa ... php?t=6460 and stopped at a cafe just before Meriden. We had to wait a few minutes for them to open at 10:00 though.

If you could confirm your plans, if I'm able to come (90% sure I can at this stage) I'll come armed with a route in case we need to split the group in two like last Sunday.

Revised departure time C run.

Post by listensqueak » 12 May 2015 17:51

Thanks Steve. I could not remember the start time last year. I'll revise that then to 0815 at the Black Horse.

C Run: Departure at 0815 from the Black Horse

I'll see you at Meriden or at the cafe if you let me know which one you are going to.
I would recommend Berryfields farm shop

Pete. Berryfields was the one I had in mind as it said 'Cyclists welcome' outside.
Look forward to seeing you there. As we are starting early, we should be at the cafe for the 10.00 opening.

James.... That was me last week. We must work alternate weekends.

Sorry, I'm a bit tight for time tomorrow so will have to head straight to the cafe from home, hope to see you all there if I don't pick you up along the way.

Beacon Stalwarts who made the 0815 start to the Meriden cyclist memorial service and those who met us at the cafe after playing catch up were....

Charlie Pearson (L)
Paul Farrell
Helen Jamieson
Simon Turner
Pete Norman
Steve Smith
Dave Cole
Amarjit Sangheera
Baljit Sangheera
Pete Marshall
Callum Bierne
Rob Parker

I'm sure we were joined by one other, please advise if you know who. Anne and Dave Hughes were at the cafe too.
A good disciplined group today with plenty of chat going on. Enjoyable day out. Thanks also to Steve who provided some less busy diversions on the return leg.
Cheers all.

thanks for a cracking ride today Charlie, thoroughly enjoyed that. Just wish the return leg was as nice as the ride out, it was pretty overcast.

Many thanks to my club run colleagues for an enjoyable day out. As ever, Flowerdews provided good service ensuring that Bromyard remains a fixture on the club run circuit.

Hopefully, everybody enjoyed the lumpy return which included a new ascent for a club run between Stockton and Pensax. I did love the question, "surely that is the top", to which I could only answer, "no".

You might be referring to me Charlie. I caught up with the C run and tagged along for 5 or 6 miles before diverting off. Not worthy of a club run point though!

Thanks for replying Colin. I remember speaking to you by Lavender Hall. Thought I was going mad for a minute there.
