A RUN TO BURFORD HOUSE, TENBURY WELLS: 6th September

A new venue and route compared to last month's attempt to Tenbury Wells. We will certainly not be using The Riverside Cafe given their woeful service.

Out: Abberley, Hanley Broadheath.
Cafe: Burford House, Tenbury
Return: Frith Common, Rock.

The route will be lumpy but not as lumpy as the August attempt. We should arrive at the cafe slightly earlier assuming that we do not experience any emergency cherry stops. The ride will be at club run pace and not 'eye-balls-out'.

Still looking for someone to lead the C run on Sunday. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who has never led a run before.

Sunday Club Run "B Run"

Post by George L » 03 Sep 2015 19:03

Hi All

Really sorry but I am full of cold at the minute. I will have to stand down as this Sundays B ride leader.

I have had it since Tuesday so maybe it will go but I can't guarantee it ,so best get a new leader.

Everyone always chips in on a ride so it isn't a daunting prospect to lead if anyone else is considering.

Regards
George L.

If anyone is at a loose end on Sunday, we still need volunteers for this. Full details here.

Does Andy know something about the overnight weather that the rest of us don't?

Hi all
I was down to lead the intro ride this Sunday to the stables tea room, earlswood.

I've been in some pain and discomfort in my southern region since Thursday. It was easing up Friday but the pain has come back again, so I will have to back down as leader

This is the route I was taking

https://www.strava.com/activities/279529110

A new leader may want to change destination.
I've posted this on here so it will get more views. It is on a new thread aswell

Helen, if you want to lead the run then I don't mind riding support. Otherwise I am happy to lead but would prefer to change the destination to Churchfield Farm, nr. Droitwich. A new café for the club.
There is not a hill that is to steep to walk up.

Thanks for the offer bob. I've literally just spoken to john Dealey and he has agreed to lead.
If you’re all about the destination, take a f#€king flight!

Burford House Gardens provided a significantly better alternative to the Riverside Cafe in Tenbury. Outdoor seating in garden surrounds with plenty of people enjoying fine cakes and coffee.

A good group ride today, thanks all. Well disciplined and everyone seemed happy especially when climbing up to Clowes Top. An enjoyable day.

Hills on the route to Tenbury are unavoidable given the nature of the countryside. The most convenient passage would be to utilise the A road for the entire length to Tenbury, but that would be purgatory. A few additional ascents were added via Abberley Village and Clowes Top by means of Frith Common. Whilst we avoided Stanford Bank, I am not entirely convinced that the lane through Eastham and Lower Rochford is any easier. Stanford Bank is pyschologically challenging ascent but once the summit is achieved, riders can then enjoy with ecstacy, the long descent to Rochford and Tenbury. Curiously, nobody seemed to be enthused by Wyniattes Way.

Route: BH - Chaddesley - Stourport - Abberley - Stanford Bridge - TENBURY (arr 11.35) - A456 to Lindridge - Frith Common - Clowes Top - Heightington - Stourport - Chaddesley - BH

One **flat** at Ryelands Lane due to hedge cutting.

This will probably be the last time I use Tenbury as a destination until next spring as the lanes can be grim in winter.

(I thought Mr Shenton was going on the A run - hope we did not leave without you?)

C Ride Charlecote

Post by PeteNorman » 06 Sep 2015 15:49

No incidents on C run apart from the 'chef' at Charlecote refusing to cook for we 17 and the other clubs that turned up because there was only one 'chef' so it was tea and cake all round!

Thanks to all and particularly well done to those newcomers.

Splendid A run today ,you'll go a long way to see views like those. Probably the best weather of the summer for a club run ,practically no wind and just warm enough. Really nice cafe , the coconut flapjack was wonderful.

just adding my thanks to Phil for leading today, despite my grumbling about the hills (tradition, really...) it was a splendid run in excellent company to a very good new cafe with the added bonus of some very welcome good weather.
