A, B and C Club runs April, May and June 2016

Post by WorcsPhil » 07 Mar 2016 14:11

So, we're moving into Spring, and the smells of new bikes are in the air...so why don't you offer to lead rides, offer new venues, re-visit old venues, offer new start times, even consider a 300kms club run (surely not!). We love innovation. Post below...

Note: This purpose of this topic is compile the schedule of club runs. Discussion about individual rides, including rider lists, should be done in a separate thread that I will set up every week - one for each Sunday.

17/04/2016 A: 100 in 7.75 - Carding Mill Valley - Philip Whiteman (09:15 start) B: Spetchley - George Barker C:Blooms Garden Centre - Dave Cole

01/05/2016 A: B: 100 in 8 to Much Wenlock - Paul Johnson (08:15 start) C:
08/05/2016 A: B: Alcester - Colin Groves C::
15/05/2016 A: British Camp - Philip Whiteman (0815 start) B: Madeley (nr Telford) - Nick Shenton (0815 start) C: Leamington - John Deeley::

I'm organising a C run pace ride to Tewkesbury on 12 June, 8:15 start. Route tbc, but I think it's around 80 miles. Even though it's longer than a normal C run, the current intention is for only 1 stop and to go to the garden centre, but there's time enough for that to change!

It can either be the C run, or an additional run if someone wants to lead a standard length C run that day.
If you’re all about the destination, take a f#€king flight!

On the back of Phil's comment about standard length B runs I'll lead one on the 8th May to Alcester. Be about 55 miles towards the lower end of the B pace guidelines so C runners welcome. We could call it a B(b) run - 300k'ers feel free to organise a 2nd longer / stronger B run.

If on the day there's a lack of support for it we could combine the B & C maybe. See what happens.

I'll take the B run to Pershore 10the April as last time I tried my pedal broke! Good opportunity for C runners to step up, bring a lock.

For the club run on 17th April, I listed it as 100 in 7.

Given:
i. The hilly nature of the route
ii. Potential slow turnaround time at Carding Mill
iii. My complete lack of fitness

It will be regraded to 100 in 8. The logic for this longer than normal club run is for persons to prepare for the 300 Beacon Brecons run in May. Others can of course join us too!

22nd May I will again be going to the Annual Cyclists' Memorial Service in Meriden so happy to call it a C Run. We may need to start a bit earlier than usual.

I'll be leading a Beacon Away Day to Snowdonia on the 12th June (as mentioned on the facebook group a while back). It'll be a B run pace, but long at 140km. Probably only about 6-8 people max, but would be nice if club run points could be appointed.

Hi, I'll volunteer to lead an A run (or B run if that suits purpose better) on 19th June. Provisionally a 9:15 start & provisionally headed to Broadway Tower.

Not sure if there will be much demand given next week's 300 km ride, but I'm happy to lead an A run to Warwick that day, for anyone who won't be in Wales and still wants a ride. We can make it a combined A/B if no one steps forward to lead the B.
