Club runs - 14th August
Bit tardy posting this week, apologies.
Anyway, excellent August turnout with over 40 riders out last Sunday, with a (in)decent breakaway group following the Pied Piper of Iverley up into Staffordshire. Fine work, Nick.
Thanks also to Pete Marshall and Colin for leading the August Intro with 6 new riders visiting Earlswood. Hope you all enjoyed it...
This week's rides are:
A: Great Comberton - Phil Richards
B: Warwick - Andy Terry
C: Dunnington, nr Alcester - Pete Norman
This Sunday follows Super Saturday at the Olympics, with Mo, Jess and the Greg (us reds stick together!) competing well after 02:30, so the club runs beginning at 09:15 this week gives everyone the chance to celebrate golds in real time(?).
Hope to see a big crowd out this Sunday, the weather looks glorious, so come along...and let's have a C-run volunteer, please.

Yes, Ash - if you're happy with that speed and distance.ash.turner wrote:would this be a ride for C runners to step up to...?Andy Terry wrote:For the B run to Warwick on Sunday I'll be aiming for around 24 km/h (15 mph) average or thereabouts, depending on the group. The route is 91 km (57 miles) and about as flat as you can get for a Beacon club run.
Here's the proposed A-run route this week.

As there are 100mile club runs in the following week, this run is 70 miles, flattish, quirky café, back by 13:45...a club run just like your mom used to make.

C Ride Sunday 14th August
I don't mind leading another.
Hillers Garden Centre, Dunnington near Alcester, anti-clockwise, 49.2 miles and 2235 feet climb, a follow on for anyone from last weeks intro ride?

Eye opening B run
Thank you to Andy and all the other B riders for looking after me today. Special mention to our leader for the entertainment he'd arranged on the way home. I really thought I'd seen it all when riding a bike (what is the hand signal for 'naked lady ahead'?)

A fine run to Great Comberton marred by a injury crash to Andy Curley, who decided to cycle back home. Sorry about that, Andy - hope you're ok.
We tested the single chef at the cafe who struggled to feed the 13 remaining people saying "I've never cooked for that many before" so thanks to her for dealing with everybody.
No squirrels were killed this week. Riders were:
Phil Richards (Leading)
Oliver Timms
Leonie Balter
Sir Chris Hoy
Ian Simpson
Paul Johnson
Philip Whiteman
John Williams
Kyle Gatier
Adrian Ravenscroft
Neil Orchard
Chris Ashford
Matt hale
Nick Shenton
Thanks to everyone for turns at the front, and the inevitable Olymic discussions, albeit I never heard anyone mention the Dressage.
