Beacon RCC Track Champs 2018 June 23rd

Post by AdeR » 09 Mar 2018 12:20

The Track at Halesowen is booked for our track champs on June 23rd. I thought that the format from last year was highly successful. I'd welcome any thoughts regarding the racing programme. The match sprints provided an opportunity to take part in the kind of racing that isn't on the normal Friday Night schedule. It was great that so many academy riders were there. Hopefully we can get weather as good as last time. Who is up for it this year?

At the moment that looks good to me this year. What sort of numbers did we get last year?

This date, incredibly, appears to be free this year
Cheers,

Great Stu - now someone can challenge Cleggy!

On a more practical note I feel that it's really important that people are confident and have had ample experience on the track before taking part in the adult races. Obviously this isn't an issue for the IP, but bunch racing and even sprinting need some preperation beforehand in order for it to be safe and for riders to get the most out of the meet.

I have a date booked in May, but open to ideas on how to deliver some structured coaching before the event in order for it to be a better day for all

You had the nationals last time if memory serves - we had a good dozen riders.

Unfortunately the Clegster is still abroad but free to sock it to the purple brigade in July

Is this a 'turn up, sign on and enjoy' meeting or do I have to pre-enter. I have a track bike and am accredited on the 'Timbers'.

Can I choose the events once there?

Regards all

Paul

Yes, there's no pre-entry system, so you can just turn up on the day (although I know Adrian would like to get an idea of numbers in advance, so posting here is good).

Just turn up, if everyone can try to get there early to be ready to race at 1pm. So 12.30 if need to hire a bike. Should be a great afternoon of racing and rare chance for members of all ages to get together so come and watch if you can.

And yes don't have to do all events so can pick and choose or anyone with some track experience but not wanting to do group races are welcome to do the pursuit. Think there's an omnium competition/trophy though so doing all gets you a shout at that.
