Club runs - 2nd September

Post by WorcsPhil » 28 Aug 2018 09:31

Huge kudos to the (dirty) dozen who still turned up for the two club runs last Sunday. The weather was foul, but like the true past heroes of the Midlands, 12 disciples hoisted damp club run flags in nearby cafes. Well done all, and thanks to James Tate and Dave Cole in particular for still turning up to lead...great stuff.

The weather forecast for this coming weekend looks good, so why not come out and support Beacon club runs for the last warm weeks of the summer...there are no club runs the following week as it is the date of BOTH the Beacon hill climb and CX event, so there will be an extra club run on Wednesday 5th September out to Ilmington Hill to watch Froomey and Geraint and others in the Tour of Britain race up that slope. Following a Facebook public vote, Nick Shenton will lead, route plan and post here also...

Can we have an early volunteer to lead the A and C rides, please! This week's rides are:

A: Destination TBC - Neil Orchard
B: Lavender Hall - Simon Woodward
C: Volunteer required
Intro Ride: Led by Dave Cox to Avoncroft café in Bromsgrove. Support rider would be welcome for this Intro ride.

The B ride to Lavendar Hall will be about 55 miles with the cafe just over halfway at 32 miles.
The pace won't be quick and the route is fairly flat so if there are any C riders who fancy moving up to the B this is the perfect opportunity.
The route is available here - https://ridewithgps.com/routes/28440097

Thanks Neil (but I've always seen Mr Johnson lead us  hahaha) for the pleasant ride.
I've got chance to test my "new bike" and my apologies for the missing bell.
Next time I will!
cheers

The B ride got to Lavender Hall without a problem but there was a 3/4 hour wait for food so we were told of a great cafe a couple of miles away. Unfortunately they were also full so we ended up 1 **flat** later with a Spa shop on the village green at Meridan.
Todays riders were
Nathan Burton
Huang Dong
Neil Evanson
Eugene Farrell
Mark Gardner
Colin Hall (Started but had a mechanical early on)
Titus Oates
Luca Tinnirello
Ashley Vardon (New rider. Welcome Ashley)
Rob Wade
Simon Walker
Andy Wrightson
Will Woodhouse
Simon Woodward (Leading)
