Club Runs - 17th November

Post by WorcsPhil » 11 Nov 2019 11:16

18 riders out on the A and C runs this weekend, and although cold and wet under our tyres, it was a lovely sunny winter's day to be out on a bike. No frost, intelligent discussions on the neo-classical architecture seen in certain areas of Vienna, and how that has influenced the cultural reputation of teutonic cities... this was clearly a specialist subject of the A-riders and we'd love to share our thoughts with you on another day.

This week's rides will no doubt be just as exciting, especially as we have two named leaders already, woowee!

A: Lavender Hall - Andy Wrightson
B: Destination TBC - Simon Woodward
C: Stourport using this route - https://ridewithgps.com/routes/26772661 - Leader required

No one had volunteered to lead the C run today, and I only decided to come out at about 8:45 this morning.
I downloaded Pete Norman's route to Stourport and three of use duly set off. [No leader on the message board usually means a smaller turnout.]

Many of the roads were pretty filthy, with several minor floods on the way out. My gear lever failed on the outward leg, allowing me to change up but now down (until I ran out of gears). I adjusted it at the cafe so that I was at least in a middle gear at the back, sufficient to get me back over Saint Kenelms Pass.

Apologies for the less than perfect navigation today - not helped by me not realising that my Garmin had frozen.

On the ride today were:
Phil Gameson (leaders)
Andre Gardner (welcome!)
Dave Stevenson

David Hughes met us at the cafe. He had already taken sustenance, but stayed for a while.

We had 9 riders out on today's B run to Croome Park.
The 2 fords on the route were impassable by car, but we happily trundled our way over using the bridges.
Sorry for my lack of fitness, I think I'll volunteer for the D ride next time!

Today's Synchro Swimmers were

Claire Fudge
Phil Elwell
Andy McGrath
Mark Russell
Jon Sadler
Si Turner
Simon Walker
Philip whiteman
Simon Woodward (Leading from the back)

Well there were 7 of us set out from the black horse on this very autumnal day... some very wet and muddy roads along route and even our own swimming pool at one point woo hoooo lol (spoilt we are ) but no issues to report and mechanical free.
A big welcome to harry the hedgehog who showed his face after hiding away in his garage.
On today's A run were
( leading ) Andrew Wrightson
Paul johnson
John William's
Vince Tennant
Niel indoors orchard
James tate
James bendle
Following slowly from the back harry the hedgehog.
Thanks all

It's worth pointing out for Paul Johnson's benefit that I was the first in the queue at Croome Park and the last person to receive a bacon sandwich that morning. The venue continues to live upto its useless self for breakfast items.

Many thanks to Woody for leading the club run which included some lanes new to me.
