Danny Mason Highland Challenge - 14th June
Danny Mason Highland Challenge - 14th June
Ludlow CC's Danny Mason Highland Challenge, 14th June, starts from Ludlow, 65 miles, 1800 m of climbing. I did it last year with a few chaps and it was enjoyable. Its not an audax, just a ride with refreshment points en-route. The club is offering a round of beers (or non alcoholic drink) for any group of 5 or more in the same kit! Sign up at the web site.

This looks like a great route and free
I've entered and am planning to ride to the start to turn it into a 200km ride.

Me too - enough Beaconites for a free beer!
Re: Danny Mason Highland Challenge - 14th June
I see that the organiser is trying to do a staggered start for everyone, based on previous years experiences, best of luck with that!
I plan on being there as early as possible to try and get away from the masses, which is what everyone is probably thinking to.
Are we going to try and do a Beacon group ride?

Also, regarding the five riders in the same colour kit, are people wearing the red, green and white kit or the black "away" kit?

Black away kit?
I've only got the home kit.
I've not done the ride before but was my thinking of starting as late as possible to avoid the masses.

The trouble with starting later and again from painful experience, you get caught behind big groups of very slow people. On the narrow lanes and especially on the climbs its a nightmare and can be quite hazardous.

A disappointing turn out after it initially looked like it was going to be a decent Beacon turnout
Just myself, Si Woodward and Phil Gameson
Nevertheless, an absolute belting day out with some lovely long steady climbs but unfortunately followed by some terrifying descents, with some serious potholes/caverns, lots of loose gravel and sand strewn road surfaces! I think that everyone had a story to tell about a near miss at some point on the route
