Sunday 18th July- Upton - 08:30 start - 14-15 mph

Post by Si_Walker » 13 Jul 2021 22:10

I'll take a ride to Upton, ~72 miles return, ave 14-15 mph social speed, mostly flat i.e. slow B.
The route is out via Droitwich, Crowle, Drakes Broughton, return via Defford, Inkberrow, Tardebigge.
Cafe stop at the Marina (WheelHouse) or in the town.
Forecast is good; sunny and hot, light wind, so sun cream and hydration are recommended.
Route is approx.

8 riders max please, don't forget your mask.

1. Si Walker (leading)
2. Si Turner
3. Alan Weaver
4. Andy McGrath
5. Ewan Ross
6. Matt Hale
7. Toby Hale
8. Phil Gameson

Full House!

This is a social ride at the average pace stated. I don’t want to end up leading from the back 😂 else I’ll be very rude!

Andy W, really sorry, not an intentional omission. (You could have PM'd me for my oversight!). Ive had busy days at work and with glances at the MB didn't see yours after Alan's request, AlanW and AndyW look the same with a brief glance!. If you're sorted that's good.

All riders attended, a bit of an incident with a startled horse 🐎 in a country lane resulted in a minor delay. Superb horse rider control prevented an ejection from the saddle. Cafe was very pleasant with a rider getting f**t before setting off. Stopped for ice lollies and cold drinks at Bishampton cafe shop after which two riders went ahead to get home. A great day out, thanks for taking the lead occasionally, very sociable, a bit faster than billed and a lot hotter than desired . No polo mints were eaten during this ride! I’m now going to sit in the fridge!

Another cracking ride guys, thanks to Si Walker for leading.

Lessons learnt from today:-

1) if you have self adhesive Park repair patches stuck on Latex tubes, DONT leave your bike in direct sunlight!

2) Horses like polo mints, which to be honest I thought that everyone knew that, mentioning no names ;;-)
