Intro Rides 2021
We'd like to start running monthly Intro Rides again on the first Sunday of each month, starting in May. These runs will obviously follow whatever Covid-related rules apply at the time. On 2 May, that looks like meaning a maximum of six pre-enrolled riders, with an outdoor café stop and keeping separate from other groups at the BH and elsewhere. In due course, I'll be preparing some publicity material for prospective participants explaining the arrangements in more detail. For now, what I'd like to do is recruit leaders for the months ahead. Do I have any volunteers?

Re: Intro Rides 2021
Hi George I'll definitely do one as long as COVID infections keep going down. Plans a bit fluid at the moment but won't be before June. I'll get back to you once I've had a second jab !!

Re: Intro Rides 2021
Dave, when you've made your plans, Laurence Cooley will flag up the ride on the club website and in the Facebook group. We generally try to do that roughly a couple of weeks before the ride. Simply start a new thread with the relevant details in the Club Runs area of this MB, and Laurence will pick it up.
Re: Intro Rides 2021
A general note for ride leaders: we should collect emergency contact info for newcomers (on the day or beforehand). In other words, a name/number to call if there's an emergency involving the rider. If you or the rider feels uncomfortable about asking/sharing, at least check that they've got ID somewhere readily accessible in an emergency, e.g. a jersey pocket. There's no need to follow any strict protocol, just use common sense: if this person keeled over in a ditch, what would I do after dialling 999? Do I have the first idea who they are, where they're from, etc?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Thanks George, I'll make my mind up by the end of this week and post it on the message board. I'll send Laurence a direct message so he knows the information's available for promoting on the website.George wrote: ↑09 Jun 2021 11:52Dave, when you've made your plans, Laurence Cooley will flag up the ride on the club website and in the Facebook group. I'm struggling with most of the dates but will happily least the November intro ride.
Re: Intro Rides 2021
Thanks, Simon. Probably best not to make it a laden camping weekend in the Cairngorms at that time of year.

Re: Intro Rides 2021
We don't yet have a volunteer to lead the intro ride on 5 December. Any takers? It would be good to have someone lined up by this weekend, so that we've got a week to plug it. Intro rides are fun and rewarding to lead. They are also short and easy-paced, so an experienced rider should be able to lead one even with not many miles in their legs. It's a great way to help others take the next step in their involvement with a pastime which has given all us established riders so much pleasure. Share the bike love, people!
I can't easily lead that day myself, because of other commitments that weekend. If all else fails, I could lead on the second Sunday of the month, but it would be better if we could stick to the advertised dates.
