Routes for Intro and D Rides - 30-40 miles approx

Post by Philip Whiteman » 06 Feb 2020 10:22

At a recent Sunday Intro Ride we discussed the possibility of shorter rides. Mariana suggested the availability of downloadable GPX maps for rides of 30-40 miles (less than 60km) for anyone wishing to undertake and lead a shorter ride. I have drafted the following;

Botany Bay Cafe, Astwood Bank.

Avoncroft, Bromsgrove.

Hartlebury Castle. Hartlebury.

Rowberry's Garden Centre Cafe, Chaddesley Corbett.

Feckenham Village Shop and Cafe. Feckenham. nice cafe but limited seating.

Whitlenge Gardens. Hartlebury.

Lord Morton's Tea Room. Cutnall Green.

Potting Shed Cafe, Singletons. Lydiate Ash.

Bank Cafe. Queen St, Astwood Bank.

Broadacre Fisheries. Hanbury (route courtesy of George)

Aztec Adventure Cafe. Wychbold. Contact cafe for winter opening hours.

Akamba Dickens Heath (route courtesy of Andy Terry)

Jinny Ring. Hanbury.

Hetty's Cafe Droitwich Lido Summer hours only. During winter cafes in Droitwich Shopping precinct

Churchfields Farm Salwarpe.

Packwood House.

Ombersley Farm Shop and Cafe Ombersley

Enter the Kidderminster Killer Audaxes, 12.7.20. No expensive fees, no headline sponsors, no goodie bags, no numbers, no gold standard times, no broom wagons and no pretending to have looked into the jaws of hell and survived.Image

You forgot Akamba in Dickens Heath

Route includes urban cycleway, canal towpath, a hill, a roman road, lakes and a cafe like no other.

Thanks, Phil. I'm currently preparing some material about intro rides, and this resource will come in very handy.

I'm proposing to lead a D run on the 23 Feb. It'll be part of my journey from flu like virus syndrome to the Snowdrop and Dave Cole is supporting. All depending on safe weather. Route will be lumpy but adapted to suit turnout. Probably cafe stop at Earlswood on return loop.
