10 Mile TT
Incorporating CTT Midlands Women's Series 2007 Event 4 - 27
June 2007
We
experienced cool (if not cold!) conditions on a late-June
evening for our 10 mile time trial incorporating the 4th event
of the Midlands Womens Series. Black clouds threatened to
give us a soaking but we fortunately all rode without a fresh
downpour and on only slightly damp roads.
The event had been switched at short notice to the K34/10D
course to avoid roadworks near Salford Priors. This involved
a straightforward ride from Dunnington southwards through
Harvington and Norton to turn north of Evesham and retrace.
The roads were very quiet and well-surfaced although the road
never seemed to be flat at any point!
The winner with a short 24 was Ruth Eyles of the host club
followed by newcomer to the Series and experienced time-triallist,
Emily Ducker (Rugby RC) in 26.51. Close behind Emily came
a duo from the Kenilworth Whlrs, repeating their 3rd and 4th
places from Event 2, first Debbie Cooper with 27.00 and then
Ailsa Curtis with 27.20.
Comparing
rides to previous performances, the ride of the evening came
once again from Beth Crumpton (Redditch R&PCC) who was the
only rider to improve on her PB. Beth sliced 10 seconds from
her performance in the much faster Leamington event (on the
K10) and is now very close to her club's Schoolgirl 10 mile
Record. Nobody else improved on their best times although
Sue Middup-Jones (Wyre Forest CRC) did well on a hard course
to be within a minute of her PB.
Once again three vets took part and once again Debbie Sheridan
(BRAT) led on standard, this time just 17 seconds slower than
her standard.
Thanks to the Beacon members who helped out by putting up
signs, marshalling, pushing-off and time-keeping on such a
cold evening. Thanks also to Hillers
Garden Centre for allowing us to use their car park for
the event.
