An historic and classic cycle race
As a club we're really excited about the flagship event we
have been running since 1948. Although we've modified the
course in that time, we believe it is now a perfect test for
the 21st century cyclist of all-round riding technique and
fitness. There are climbs and descents to tax the best roadmen
and wonderful rolling sections to excite the experienced tester.
The history speaks for the true classic status of this event.
With past winners over the decades such as Bob Maitland, Ray
Booty, Paul Carbutt and Stuart Dangerfield, not to mention
the 1967 Amateur World Road Race Champion Graham
Webb, which top rider today can resist the opportunity
to put their name alongside these 'greats'?
But it is not just an event for the Elite. It is also a tough
challenge for ordinary club riders who can gauge their progress
by racing on some wonderfully interesting and scenic rural
Worcestershire roads. In fact, we've introduced a generous
prize for the most improved ride in our event, so why not
use this as an annual progress-check and make it your personal
goal?
