Prologo Saddle

Post by Macco » 01 Jun 2025 13:15

I've recently revived my 9 year old Synapse after an 18 month break & re-adjusted the saddle. All's been well until a week ago when the saddle has started making a grinding noise, which is driving me potty! I've had the saddle off & checked it for damage, wear & tear etc. & can't see anything obvious. Anyone got any ideas or should I just bite the bullet & buy a new one?

Have you checked the bolts for the saddle rails (and seat post) are tightened to the correct torque?

Unless your saddle rails are carbon, the tightened torque for saddle rails is typically ~12Nm (check markings on your seatpost)

Worth checking the seatpost bolt(s) too...typically ~5Nm

My son's saddle was creaking like crazy, purely due to the location where the metal saddle rails enter the plastic saddle structure.

Although you can relieve this temporarily with a bit of grease or squirt of WD40, it came back very quickly.

Thanks fellas but I think I may have solved the problem. A small sliver of sponge, forced between the rails & the plastic base at the nose of the saddle seems to have done the trick, fingers crossed!!
