Weekly Club Update and Club runs for the weekend of 13th of October

WEEKLY UPDATE:

...and straight into the club run trophy 2025 lead go Dave Cox, Alistair Hey, Alex Hopcroft and Phil Gameson - surely no one will overtake them in the remaining 51 weeks, their love of leading was obvious to all, and they'll take some beating! Some great rides out at the weekend before the rain set in early afternoon, and always good to see two club runs going to the same cafe, this time...Worcester Country Park. Now on the A-ride, it became obvious to me that what we need to offer potential leaders is a beaten up copy of a 1:50,00 OS map, with the route for the day highlighted in orange. You can keep your, Garmins and Wahoos, GPS routes and club RidewithGPS accounts, let's go old school.

I was also trying to persuade another nameless person on the A-Ride to give cross a go, but was met with that old chestnut in response..."it does look awfully muddy"...You can't really argue against that, but therein lies the fun, I suppose :D

Anyway, as usual, club runs offer more laughs per square inch than anything you'll find on Netflix, so give them a go and speak to new people rather than the humdrum of repetition.

So what else has been happening - the Gravel world championships were on at the weekend, with next week's world championships on cheese and the following weeks on rice pudding taking place in Edam, Holland <@> ..Fab to see Vos and Van der Poel sweep up for the Dutch, and closer to home to see Celia Brown riding strongly to finish in the top 30 in the women's age-group race...great stuff, Celia!

The TT season has ended, but cross is now the zeitgeist, so get along and have a go...or just as importantly, sign up to volunteer at the Beacon event in Walsall on the 8th December...we have about 6-7 volunteers at present (the usual suspects), but need another dozen (new suspects?) for it to be easy for everybody, so take a look at Ade's message on the MB and get your name down. It'll be muddy!

That's it for this week...don't forget to publicise anything you do cycling-related, or just let me know and I'll do it for you!

Phil
