Sunday 2nd March @ 9:15 - B run to Wyre Forest Vistior Centre (55 miles)
I thought Matt might like a rest from leading this week.
I'll lead a B run to the Wyre Forest Visitor Centre starting from the Black Horse at 9:15 promptly.
The route is just under 55 miles:
https://ridewithgps.com/routes/47342311
Ride with GPS has this route as 3,000 of climbing, but I reckon it is more like 4,500 feet.
Since I decided on this route the weather forecast has changed, with the risk of ice greater. In view of that, and the slight uncertainty regarding St Kenelms pass, I have decided I will reroute on the way out. We will go out to Belbroughton by the same route as the return leg, then turn right to pick up the route at lower Clent.
On the ride today were:
Naomi Bell
Phil Gameson (L)
Matt Hale (part way)
Toby Hale (part way)
John Hitchcock (from the cafe)
Paul Johnson (part way)
Carina McGovern
Noel O'Dwyer
Michlle Thomson
Ben Walmsley
Pete Warwick
Si Woodward
Andy Wrightson
It was a fine bright day, and thankfully there was virtually no sign of any ice.
Unfortunately, however, it was not without incident.
Noel slipped on the pedals whilst turning onto the main road in Bewdley, hurting his leg and wrist.
Andy and Naomi accompanied him to the waterfront cafe in Bewdley, with the rest of us carrying on to the Wyre Forest Visitor Centre.
Many thanks to Andy and Naomi for staying with Noel. I hope he managed to make it home under his own steam.

Hi Phil, there’s been a land slip on St Kenelms with the road closed for a while

I guess it’s probably passable by bike and therefore traffic free but I thought you might appreciate a heads up!

Thanks for the heads up Pete. Now that you mention it, I went down St Kenelms Pass last Saturday and the road was closed but perfectly passable on a bike.PeteNorman wrote: ↑26 Feb 2025 23:11Hi Phil, there’s been a land slip on St Kenelms with the road closed for a while

I'll check again this Saturday and post a minor change to the route if necessary.

Hi Phil,
Not sure yet if I'll be able to join you, but saw a comment by Phil Whiteman on FB that St Kemelms is passable by bike.
Have a good ride if I don't see you

Hi Phil,
I made it back with loads of help from my very good A&E crew who stayed on, before they just descended into just taking the p155 at the madness of it all at the cafe.
