Weekly Club Update and Club runs for the weekend of 16th of March

WEEKLY UPDATE:

The sun came out, the daffodils were out, the warmth was there, so Beacon riders came out in their droves...anybody would think it was preferable to cycle in warm weather rather than heavy winds and sleet! Great to see 30 riders out on FOUR club runs on Sunday, and thanks to all the leaders as usual.

Particular kudos to James Tate for posting an A-Ride up for the first time in ages... and what an A-run it was, speedy, disciplined, quick cafe stop and home before Songs of Praise...thanks James, and let that be a wake up call for other A-riders...lets get one every week if we can, just publish a route and expected speed (as fast as you like). Build it and they will come.

We had a few Audaxers out over the last few days also. Me and Andy Wrightson rode a 200kms midweek from Worcestershire to Wiltshire and back, after Nick had to abandon due to mechanical issues. Karl Walton rode a solo 200 on Saturday and on Sunday, John Williams decided to visit his folks for Sunday tea...they only live 10miles away, but he rode 124 miles to their house, just to make it interesting! John's back in form, but he and everyone else are still someway behind Carina McGovern, who is way out in front in our Audax league table this season, and has already ridden nearly 2,000kms, some 400kms more than anyone else. Great riding, Carina!

The sunshine does wonders for the mojo, eh? and with a busy summer ahead, watch out for regular weekly updates on what's being planned in 2025... we have Alan Weaver's Weston weekend planned for Saturday 21st June and the Sunday, so sign up and get your hotel booked. This is a great two-day trip and is a benchmark for all Beacon riders at least once. There is no 'Weston and back in a day' ride this year, but to ramp it up, there is an 'Aberystwyth and back in a day' scheduled for the same weekend as the Weston trip (Saturday 21st June)...360kms and 5,000m of climbing, this is not for the fainthearted.

Mariana will be setting up a summer kit order soon, so watch out for that, but take a look on the Beacon Facebook page where the spare kit we have in stock is now listed... message Mariana if something your size is listed.
