I think the main thanks go to you Dave - I'm pretty sure that most of the rest of us just turned up on the day to play our part whereas you had been working on it hard for several weeks and have a fair amount of work still to do. Many congratulations to you on a very well-run event. I'm sure all the riders appreciated it.

Dave, down at the finish, we noticed that probably 80-90% of competitors, after finishing, carried on for a few hundred yards, encircled the next RAB and returned to the HQ via the route they had raced along, which required them to make right turns at the Little Chef RAB and the Salford Priors RAB.

Am I right to think that we were advised by the CTT to switch to this slower, non-standard course because it is considered to be safer? And that it is considered safer because competitors don't have to encircle or make right turns at any RABs? If so, it rather defeats the whole object of the switch if nearly everyone is going to ride back along the very route that the CTT has asked us not to use.

I guess that the majority were simply unaware that they could turn left at the Alcester RAB, then first left off the A422 and return through the lanes. Apart from avoiding all the DC RABs, it is very slightly shorter. Is it worth pointing this out to competitors next year?

A handful of competitors couldn't be bothered riding the 100 yards past the finish to the Alcester RAB to encircle and retrace. They just made a U turn across 4 lanes of traffic. I have previously ridden events where competitors were told that anyone making a U turn within sight of the start/finish would be disqualified. Should we follow suit?
