Redditch Town Centre Race

Ive entered this cat 4 race on Saturday. 9 places left.

Should be interesting for my first race. Don't think Ive currently got the speed, bike handling skills or nerve for it but apart from that think I'll do well! It's being sold as ideal to give racing a go but is also described as a "technical" course?!

Will let you know how it goes.

Good luck Tim its Good to see another Beacon member take up racing.
You shuold try Stourport on Tuesdays there are normaly a few Beacon members riding there.
Remember just have fun for most of us it takes a few races to get the hang of it.

My first race result: DNS!

Unfortunately my son decided to pick up a bad virus resulting in me spending 6 hours at the childrens hospital A&E yesterday. He's absolutely fine now. Will have to get to Stourport or Mallory soon!

It was indeed a great evening entertainment, some very fast paced racing. Quite surprised not to see more local cyclists watching it?

Top marks to Redditch RRPCC for organising it, but it needed more marshals ideally to help control some of the local drunken clowns as the evening progressed.

Spoke to Sean about the race-he did say that in the break of 3 he didn't get much help from the other 2.
He should be 2nd CAT I reckon by the end of the season-4 points to get. I'm racing with him in Telford on Sunday so he might get them then. We need to get him a Beacon jersey as well. He went to get one but there were no smalls.

I'm sure they were quite happy to let Sean do the work then take the sprint!
That's racing isn't it if you let it happen. Some good strong riders in the top ten ,Sean's on good form, well deserves his 2nd cat.
