Sunday 22nd July 2012 will go down in the annals of British cycling history.

I went and did the Sirley RC annual 30 (k1/30) and came first.

OK, the field was, err, small (3). The time wasnt great (1:28:23) but inside the aim of 90 mins (my previous visit to this course was a 1:17 ish 25) .

I havent come first at something even vaguely competitive since the "bean bag" race at school when I was about eight.

Apparently another cycle race finishes in France today as well but there the similarity ends.

Well done, a wins a win.

I beat Mark Lovatt once in a sprint to a sign, on a club run, around 1988, nobody can take it away from you and you can go on about it for the next 25 years...

Well done Richard. I expect the Shirley RC made you very welcome too - a very friendly club. They always give me a big wave whenever I see them out and they put a lot of effort into organising events, despite not having many active racing members.

Nice one Richard - a win is a win. Don't think Tyler Farrar has had one for over a year so definitely every one should be savoured. Best Simon
