RESULT: Big Hand for Gary Mac. Three Peaks CX

Posted: 30 Sep 2012 19:41
by Philip Whiteman
Gary Macintosh completed the notorious and epic Three Peaks Cyclocross in weather conditions that can best be described as atrocious. Even completing this event has got to be an achievement.

Time 4:46:13. 191st

It is interesting to note that Gary was way ahead of former Midland's League champ, Kevin Payton, who came in at 4:53:47s - although it has to be recognised the Three Peaks is unlike any league event.

Well done Gary - how much of the 4:46 was spent carrying the bike?

Well done, indeed!

However has anyone actually seen or heard from Gary since? I'm desperate to get hold of him regarding the current clothing situation.

Thanks everyone but I was not the only Beacon member to take part this year.
Chris Hudson also took part in what increadibly was his first cyclocross race. Having to overcome several mechanical problems and being very old he really deserves more credit than me

Starngely I really enjoyed this years event unlike last year when I said never again. It had much the same dunkirk spirit feeling about it as this years little mountain. The marshals, helpers and supporters were great even in the terrible weather.

I was a bit disappointed with my time as I had set a target of under 4hrs 30mins . This means however I will have to enter again next year and am looking forward to it already!!

Hmm, having seen the pictures and been pretty disgusted at the amount of CX nancies walking... on flat bits, with just a splodge of mud... man up!

Can I enter on my mtb?

Oh and well done! Good effort. :)

I noticed that on Strava. Curiously, he rode 3km less than you.

It is Sunday, and I'm leading the B run so I'd better be there!
