Total 01:37:05 64th out of 84

My first open-water triathlon, and something of a learning experience. Despite regular open-water sessions this year, I made a right mess of the swim. When the gun went I started too quickly, got breathless and couldn't get my breathing to settle down. I had to keep switching to breaststroke (which I can't actually do very well) and that cost me a few minutes. On the plus side, I did manage to get it together and swam the second half OK. Made up places on the bike and had a steady run.

A very professionally organised event with a nice friendly atmosphere.

Well done Andy. I am sure that you must still be more competent at swimming than most of us.

Well done for getting through the Open water swim Andy - a learning experience for next time no doubt! If I can fit back in my bit too snug wet-suit, I might try one next year... :)

bad luck andy, that sounds like a nightmare, especially as the swim is 750m and wet suited and physiologically demanding, well done for persevering. :(

Really annoying as I have been swimming 1200m-1600m at Upton Warren every week with no problem. It's all in the mind.
