sat 8th april K32/20 club event
The next Beacon Club TT will take place this Saturday at 2pm on K32/20 course, details of course at http://midlanddc.org.uk/courses?area=K32&course=K32/20 , same as https://www.strava.com/activities/332324038/
This is the course we use on 21st June for our Club Handicap Championship so an opportunity to set a mark now to beat then & give yourself a chance to win some nice silverware.
Sign on & limited parking near start at crossroads / picnic area by Shell Ford. I won't be there myself but Ed Moss has kindly agreed to timekeep, many thanks Ed.
Definitely worth ensuring you know the course or have it on Garmin before start as there are a couple of turns that are easy to miss & there won't be marshalls to guide you. The course consists of a series of left turns coming at approx distances of 2.2miles, 3.1miles, 4.2 miles, 8.2miles,13miles, 14.4, 14.6miles & 17.7miles.
I'll ride the course later in week to check for roadworks etc & post here if any problems but it would be great if someone could get there early enough to drive around before start to double check.
Best of luck to all competitors.

Re: sat 8th april K32/20 club event
I cycled the course this evening & course is clear of roadworks so unless something crops up before event should all be good to go.martin mc wrote:

Just a note that there is a pothole at 3rd left turn (onto The Saltway) that could catch riders out who might be looking to right at that time. Also a bit of loose gravel on Goosehill Lane just before Himbleton, not too bad just be aware of it. The road has been nicely resurfaced on left turn into Goosehill Lane, this was really bad previously.
Also remember the sharp left bend in Crowle just after village hall - easy to go onto wrong side of road here. Finally 3 of the left turns involve emerging from minor roads onto major roads so please be careful & obey the rules of the road.
Stay safe & hope everyone has a great ride.
No list of course records unfortunately John but a quick trawl of club results from previous years shows Ed Moss setting a then claimed course record of 46:20 in July 2007. Some cracking times in April 2011 but listed as course shortened for roadworks so can't be compared. I set a blistering time of 45:17 in June 2014 & it's not shown on results as being a shortened course (but before everyone goes checking strava I know it was shortened due to roadworks). Results not showing for 2015 but I remember shortened course in April & I set fastest time in summer but nowhere near course record. I couldn't see any other faster times listed than Ed's.John wrote:Do we have a list of courses and records anywhere?
I'm not aware if any other club has held events on this course so unless anyone knows better I would suggest course record currently stands to Ed Moss at 26:20. Over to you John...
A very pleasant & sunny afternoon saw just five rides.
Scores on the doors as follows:
Mark Roberts 53:01
Ian Taylor 53:22
Phil Gameson 55:40
Richard Kings 59:48
Gemma Johnson 1:04:58
Big thanks to Ed for doing the timekeeping.
I think everybody seemed pleased with their performance.
Martin - I have watches, numbers signs etc. Will bring them to the next event (25?)
