The 2010 Jack Clements Memorial Little
Mountain Time Trial
Gaining an Entry
In 2008 the Little Mountain Time Trial was oversubscribed
and a small number of entries were rejected. Some riders were
also surprised to find themselves placed on the reserve list.
The information below is intended to be an explanation of
the selection criteria for anyone who is unfamiliar with the
normal CTT process. This process will only be followed should
the event be oversubscribed in 2010.
Firstly, the event is not ‘first come first served’. Entering
earlier than another rider does not give preference. There
is a closing date (20th April) for entries and all entries
received on or before the closing date will receive equal
priority. This is a non-negotiable CTT rule.
The priority order given to entries will be based on the
previous-performances given on the entry form. Please include
ANY past performance in any CTT time trial. This includes
open events but also club time trials run by any club affiliated
to the CTT. If no information is provided it will be assumed
that you are a complete novice with no previous performance
in any open or club time trial.
The priority order for entries will be as follows:
|
i)
ii)
iii)
iv)
v)
|
Previous finishers of the Little Mountain TT
Fastest rides in a 50-mile TT
Fastest rides in a 25-mile TT
Fastest rides in a 10-mile TT
Complete novices to TTs
|
While it is not possible to predict how many entries will
be received for the 2010 event, whether the event will be
oversubscribed, or where the cut-off point will fall, please
note the following:
- In 2008
only a very small number of riders (<10) had their entry
rejected.
- In 2009 the event was not oversubscribed
- In 2008
over 20 riders who were complete novices were given a ride.
(That is, approximately 30 riders fell into category v)
above.)
- All riders
who were put on the Reserve List were given a ride.
- Having even just one prior performance, of any standard,
over any distance to put on your entry form will significantly
improve your chances of securing a ride. Club events are
run by many clubs; they are easy and cheap to enter and
require no pre-entry. If you have no previous experience
of time trialling it would therefore be wise to ride one
other event before submitting your entry.
